In the ongoing CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship being held at the Sector 10 CLTA complex, fourth seed Delhi’s Riya Sachdeva and Mahika Khanna of Uttar Pradesh moved into the pre-quarterfinals of the women’s category.

Seventh seed Mahika outplayed Aarushi Raval of Gujarat in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, while R Sachdeva defeated Haryana’s Divya Sharma 6-3, 6-2. Sixth seed J Luikham of Manipur, fifth seed Shagun Kumari of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat’s D Bhardwaj also advanced into the last 16.

In the men’s singles, Jatin Nain of Haryana defeated local contender Neeraj Yashpaul. Nain won the first set 7-5 after a neck-to-neck fight, and was leading 3-2 in the second when Yashpaul conceded the match. Maharashtra’s Savarmanyu Singh upset sixth seed Eklavya Singh of Uttar Pradesh with a 6-1, 6-2 verdict, and Haryana’s Lokesh Pun had to struggle hard as he overpowered Fardin Mohammad of West Bengal 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-0.
