The pair of Riya Sachdeva and Mahika Khanna recorded a stunning win over top seed team of Ruma Gaikwari and Priyanka Rodricks to win the women’s doubles title, on the penultimate day of the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Championship Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 complex.

Despite losing the first set 5-7, the title winning pair made a strong comeback to win the final clash 6-4 10-5.

In the women’s singles, top seed Tejasvi Dabas of Delhi will face local trainee Mahika Khanna from Uttar Pradesh in the final on Friday. In the semifinals played today, Tejasvi toppled Arushi Raval in a three-set marathon match. Tejasvi won the first set 7-5, but knelt down in the second after a tough fight in the tie-break 6-7(4).

In the final set, the neck-to-neck battle continued as the top seed rallied ahead with a 7-5 verdict. In the second semifinal, Mahika overpowered eighth seed Haryana’s Aditi Tyagi in straight sets 6-2 6-1. Mahika dominated throughout the match.
