RK Singh is new Panchkula MC chief
In a key administrative development, RK Singh officially assumed charge as the Commissioner of the Panchkula Municipal Corporation today. His appointment follows a recent reshuffle by the Haryana government.
Singh is known for his effective leadership and hands-on governance style and brings with him a wealth of experience from his earlier roles in urban development and civic management.
The Commissioner faces the daunting task of pushing forward long-pending development projects worth Rs 200 crore. A seasoned administrator, Singh steps into his role amid growing concerns over delayed infrastructure work and public inconvenience.
Shortly after taking charge, Singh held a review meeting with municipal officials, where he laid out his vision for a cleaner, greener and more organised Panchkula.
He called for a transparent and field-driven approach, directing officials to remain present on the ground, especially during the ongoing monsoon season, to promptly address waterlogging issues and other seasonal challenges.
Cleanliness and sanitation featured high on his agenda.
“Panchkula has immense potential, and with committed effort and public cooperation, we can transform it into a model city,” Singh stated during his first interaction with the municipal team.
With a cumulative backlog of civic projects either incomplete or delayed, Singh’s tenure is expected to be closely watched.
