In view of the government advisory, the Indian Railways has relaxed the refund rules for PRS counter-generated tickets so as to obviate the need for coming to the stations in a specified time period. This may help to avoid mass gathering at stations/counters.

All rules for e-ticket shall remain the same as passengers do not need to come to the station for ticket refund. This relaxation is being given for 3-month journey period — from March 21 to June 21.

Refund for trains cancelled

For trains cancelled by the Railways for journey period between March 21 and June 21, refund across counter can be taken on the submission of the ticket up to 45 days from the date of journey.

For trains not cancelled

If the trains aren’t cancelled or passengers do not want to take the journey. The TDR (ticket deposit receipt) can be filed within 30 days from date of journey at the station. Also, the TDR can be submitted to the Chief claims officer)/ CCM (Chief commercial manager), Refund/ Claims office for getting the refund within 60 days of filing the TDR subject to the verification from train chart (instead of extant rule of 10 days). For those who want to cancel the ticket through 139 can get refund across the counters in 30 days from the date of journey.

67 trains cancelled

Earlier, the 67 passengers trains and 19 express trains were announced cancelled in view of the Janata Curfew on March 22 and five trains were rescheduled. However, now these five trains — Train No. 14554 (Daulatpur Chowk-Delhi Express), Train No. 15012 (Chandigarh-Lucknow Express), Train No. 12232 (Chandigarh -Lucknow Express), Train No. 14887 (Kalka-Badmer Express), Train No. 22456 (Chandigarh-Sainagar Sirdi Express) — also stand cancelled.
