Chandigarh, February 13

Chandigarh Police have blocked a road at Chandigarh-New Chandigarh border. However, cars and PGI-bound visitors are allowed entry.

Restrictions are only for tractor trolleys and protesters.

In Mohali, too, traffic jams were witnessed near Civil Hospital in Phase 6 due to barricading on Chandigarh border.

Chandigarh Police on Monday issued a traffic advisory in the wake of farmers' proposed march to Delhi, advising the people to avoid some roads for travelling. The neighbouring states have also issued traffic advisories and general public may refer to the same for travel plans to and from Chandigarh, the advisory said. In Mohali, massive traffic snarls were also reported which has reached near Ghaggar bridge in Zirakpur from the diversion near Dera Bassi flyover.

The movement of vehicles has slowed down considerably with long queues on the Chandigarh-Delhi national highway. Vehicles coming from Chandigarh side and going to Delhi are being diverted through Barwala-Yamunanagar road.

Beside, traffic was moving at snail’s pace on the national highway on Zirakpur-Dera Bassi stretch.

Precautionary arrangements are being made in Chandigarh on February 13 for proper maintenance of law and order and smooth traffic, according to the advisory. The public is advised to avoid travel towards the Mattour barrier (dividing road Sector-51/52), furniture market barrier (Chandigarh-Mohali road Sector- 53/54), Badheri barrier (dividing road Sector-54/55), dividing road Sector-55/56, Mohali barrier, Faidan barrier, Zirakpur barrier, Mullanpur barrier, Naya Gaon barrier, Housing Board Light Point Manimajra and Dhillon barrier, according to the advisory.
