Two accident deaths have been reported from the city. While an elderly person was killed after being hit by a speeding car, a man riding pillion on a motorcycle died after being hit by a CTU bus.
According to the police, complainant Uma Shankar, a resident of Dhanas, reported that a CTU bus hit his motorcycle near the Kisan Bhawan chowk, Sector 35, on October 18. His friend, Raju, who was riding pillion, got injured.
The injured was taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police have registered a case against the bus driver, Baljeet Singh, at the Sector 36 police station. He was arrested and later released on bail.
In another incident, a 65-year-old woman, identified as Boni, a resident of Colony No. 4, Industrial Area Phase I, died after being hit by a Swift car being driven by Darshan Singh near the Colony No. 4 light point on October 19.
The victim was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
A case has been registered against the car driver at the Industrial Area police station. He was arrested and later released on bail.
