Rose fest concludes on musical note
A cultural function and performances by artistes marked the conclusion of the 53rd edition of the Chandigarh Rose Festival at Rose Garden, with Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma distributing prizes to the winners of different competitions held during three-day mega event organised by the Municipal Corporation (MC).
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, MC Commissioner Amit Kumar, area Councillor Saurabh Joshi and Chief Engineer Sanjay Arora were among those present at the prize distribution ceremony.
The Chief Secretary lauded the efforts of the team of officers under the guidance of Amit Kumar for making the Rose Festival a success without incurring any expenditure from the MC funds. He appreciated the efforts in making it a ‘Zero Budget and Zero Waste’ event by getting sponsorship for each and every programme organised during three-days. The Tribune was media partner of the event.
A musical evening ‘Sham-e-Ghazal’ was organised by the MC in association with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi. Ghazal maestro Atul Dubey and Punjabi folk songs by Sunita Dua Sehgal enthralled audience.
Poetry, humour and satire ruled at a Hasya Kavi Sammelan organised by Ibarat Lekhak Kala Manch, Chandigarh. City-based poet Naveen Neer and group also enthralled audience.
Results: On-the-spot painting: Group A (5 to 8 years) — Avleen Kaur (first), Tanveer Singh (second), Radhika Mishra (third). Group B (8-11 years) — Kushi, Vanshika, Harjap Singh. Group C (11 to 14 years) — Bhavini, Sukhman Kaur, Ansh. Group D (14-17 years) — Saloni Kapoor, Ojasvi Aggarwal, Annvi. Group E (age no bar for differently abled children) — Manshi, Vansh Mann, Jiya Chaubey. Group F — Sanskriti Aggarwal, Vinay Sharma, Pal Preet Singh.
