Rotary Club distributes 6L sanitary pads in 24 hours, sets new record
Rotary International District 3080 India claimed to have created a world record by distributing 6 lakh sanitary pads within 24 hours. DG RTN Rajpal Singh was the chief guest at the event, while Gurjot Singh, general secretary, Chandigarh Gurdwara Asthapan Committee, Sector 22, and Harshuhinder Pal Singh Brar, Director School Education, Chandigarh Administration. attended the programme as special guests.
In his address, the chief guest congratulated Rotary Club Central for creating this record.
Harshuhinder Pal Singh Brar said, “We have witnessed numerous Guinness records being set in the country, but no one wanted to talk about the record we have created today.” He said after Rotary’s initiative, the Central Government was also mulling a policy for distributing free sanitary pads in government schools.
President of Rotary Club Chandigarh Central SP Ojha said. “We have made the world record by distributing 6 lakh sanitary pads and have contacted India Book of Records. We achieved the feat by following proper eligibility procedure.”
He said the counting was done last night under the supervision of Kiranjit Kaur, Judge, India Book of Records, and the number turned out to be 6,01,020. He added that this was a matter related to women’s health and hygiene, on which work was being done for three months.
The pads were distributed to the representatives of 110 clubs of Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal, Uttarakhand, UP and Punjab to set the record.
Kiranjit Kaur said the programme was focused on women’s health and hygiene. She said it was important to make women aware on how and for how many hours they should use these.
