Rs 166L approved for reconstruction of Bhankharpur-Mubarakpur bridge
Dera Bassi, August 21
More than six months after Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann announced the upgrade of Bhankharpur-Mubarakpur railway underbridge (RUB) to check waterlogging, the re-construction project for pavements and approaches has been approved at a cost of Rs 166.26 lakh budget. The project is set to be complete within six months.
Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa said, “During Mann’s Bhankharpur visit, he had assured residents that the state government would bear all costs for the re-construction of pavements and approaches of the railway underbridge. Today, he has approved the entire cost on behalf of the state.”
The RUB, the condition of which had deteriorated since, was made motorable till the reconstruction proposal matured.
Keeping in mind the heavy vehicular traffic and stormwater accumulation there, the Public Works Department has planned the re-construction of the pavement of the RUB portion and approaches in such a way that a total of 600 mm layer of material would be used, including a final layer of M-40 concrete.
After the re-construction work is completed, the RUB would cater to commuters from Sundran, Khedi, Bhankharpur, Pandwala and Daffarpur villages.
