Zirakpur, February 20

A masked youth entered a private eyecare centre and made off with Rs65,000 kept in the cash box at the reception today. The incident happened around 4 pm when the staff were in the backroom and the main gate was locked from inside.

The suspect took just one and a half minutes to break the lock and commit the theft which was captured on the CCTV. He fled the spot on his bike parked outside the clinic. The police have recorded the statements of the women staff present in the clinic.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
