Chandigarh, December 15

In view of the rising cases of Covid-19 in Chandigarh, the UT Health Department has started opening up mini-Covid care centres for patients who require institutional isolation facility.

UT Health Secretary Yashpal Garg has written to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society to start the mini-Covid care centre at Bal Bhawan, Sector 23, to make it functional immediately so that patients can be sent to the centre from Monday.

“In the past few days, the number of Covid cases is increasing and there are many cases in which the isolation facility is not available at home. There is need to start the facility of mini-Covid care centres again, especially for quarantine purposes,” said Garg.

As present, there are over 75 patients currently infected with Covid in Chandigarh. The positivity rate of the past seven days stands at 0.5 per cent, while the cumulative positivity rate is 7.7 per cent in the city. “The NGO has been requested to again make the mini-Covid care centre at Bal Bhawan, Sector 23, functional immediately. The Director, Health Services, will start sending persons to the centre from Monday,” said Garg.
