Safety Alliance for Everyone observes World Day of Remembrance in Chandigarh
Calls for decisive action to prevent further tragedies
Safety Alliance for Everyone (SAFE), a society dedicated to road safety, observed the United Nations World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Victims at the Chandigarh Press Club on Monday.
The event honoured road crash victims and called for decisive action to prevent further tragedies. The global theme for 2025, ‘Lost Talents,’ underscored the tremendous loss of human potential caused by preventable road crashes.
The event was attended by AS Rai, IPS, Special DGP, Road Safety and Traffic Management, Punjab and former MP Mohinder Singh KP, who recently lost his young son in a road crash.
Families who lost their loved ones gathered to remember and honour them. As part of the programme, SAFE created a visual reminder of the national crisis by representing the 473 daily road deaths in India with 473 candles, symbolising the scale of loss and the urgency for action.
