Saurabh elected Press Club president
Saurabh Duggal was elected the president of the Chandigarh Press Club, defeating Nalin Acharya by a margin of 100 votes. A total of 624 were cast between Duggal (360) and Acharya (260) in the annual elections at the club in Sector 27. Duggal and Umesh Sharma’s panel won seven posts, while remaining two posts went to Acharya-Sukhbir Singh Bajwa panel.
Umesh Sharma (342 votes) won the post of senior vice-president by defeating Bajwa (272) by 70 votes.
Arshdeep Arshi (318) became vice-president (I) by recording a 16-vote win over Aarti Agnihotri (302). The post of vice-president (II) was won by Amarpreet Singh (314) over Ajay Sura (301). Rajesh Dhall (315), meanwhile, defeated Dr Joginder (297) for the post of secretary-general by a margin of 18 votes. Ajay Jalandhari (307) was elected the secretary. He triumphed over Pawan Tiwari (301) by a margin of six votes.
The post of joint secretary (I) went to Mukesh Athwal (312), who defeated Satish Kumar (301) by 11 votes. Prabhat Katiyar (316) was elected the joint secretary (II) by defeating Jai Singh Chibber (302). The post of treasurer was won by Dushyant Singh Pundir (315), who got 17 votes more than Anil Bhardwaj (296).
