Govt Model School, Sector 15-C

Chandigarh: In a moment of great pride, Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), 15-C, has been conferred the National NSS Award by President of India, Droupadi Murmu, for the Best NSS Unit Award, 2022-23, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The award recognises the institution's outstanding contribution towards community service, social welfare, and nation-building through the National Service Scheme (NSS). The Best NSS Unit award was received by Rai Veerinder Kaur, Principal and Manpreet Kaur, Programme Officer. The school was awarded a trophy, medal and certificate along with a cash award of Rs 3,50,000, acknowledging the tireless efforts of NSS Programme Officers and NSS volunteers in promoting social awareness, cleanliness drives, health camps, tree plantation and literacy programmes.

Tribune School, Sector 29

Chandigarh: An interactive session on disaster management was organised by the NSS wing of the Tribune School, Sector 29. NSS volunteers took part in the session. Mock drills were conducted to tackle earthquake and other natural calamities. Session also emphasised upon mental and physical fitness to encounter any of the calamities. Nitika Singla, course director and disaster management professional, MGSIPA, Sector 26, delivered a speech on the occasion. Students also took part in the interactive session. Rani Poddar, Principal, apprised students about the value of drill.

Mohali: Delhi Public School organised a CBSE capacity building programme on "Promoting mental health and wellness among students". The resource persons for the workshop, Dr Pushpalata Jha, Principal, G World School, Mohali, and Subeena Anand, Principal, Baby Convent School, Banur, shared insights on the importance of mental health in education, early detection of symptoms, crisis management, and effective intervention techniques.
