St Xavier’s, Panchkula

A ‘spell bee’ was organised at the school with the thought of enhancing the spelling and literary skills of schoolchildren. Students were challenged on vocabulary, spelling, communication and comprehensive skills as they made their way through various rounds of the competition.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sr Sec, Chandigarh

The school celebrated annual ardas diwas on campus with fervour and piety. The programme began with a bhog of a sehaj path, followed by a shabad kirtan by schoolchildren. A guru ka langar was served to the sangat after the ardas. Awards were presented to students who were exceptional in the fields of sports, academics and cultural activities.

Small Wonders School, Mohali

Students displayed discipline, orderliness and decorum through a series of sporting activities during the annual sports day of the school. The highlights of the day were the torch lighting ceremony, marchpast, and dance performances, along with novelty races. The event also featured a medal distribution ceremony for the winners of various events.

Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia

The school organised a prize distribution function on the school premises. During the event, students displayed talents in different spheres such as arts and crafts, yoga, and dance under the supervision of different heads of clubs.

St Xavier’s Sr Sec School, Chd

An event with the title ‘Young Business Ideas’ was organised by the commerce department of the school. The students of Class 9 discussed innovative business ideas at the event. The chairman of the school, I William, and the principal, Dr Ivorine Castellas, among other dignitaries, visited the stalls of the students at the event and talked to the students about their ideas, business models, finances and the technical viability of the ideas.

Chandigarh University, Mohali

Four students — Sonali Sahni, Anant Shah, Harsh Aditya Minz, and Abhishek Malhan — of the aerospace engineering department have been honoured with the title of Citizen Scientists by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) under its citizen science programme, the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC). With this accomplishment, the students have made a mark as promising contributors to the fields of space exploration and astronomy. The students were honoured for their contributions to observations of near-Earth objects and main belt asteroids by analysing the images from Pan-STARRS.

Punjab Engineering College, CHD

The Department of Production and Industrial Engineering, in collaboration with the Workshop and Skill Development Centre at Punjab Engineering College (deemed to be a university), organised a one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Digital Transformation for IT Enabled Supply Chain: Importance and Applications (DTSCIA-24).” The event attracted over 40 participants from institutions across the country.

Concept of martyrdom in Sikhism

A three-day World Punjabi Conference titled “Concept of Martyrdom in Sikhism” dedicated to the unique martyrdom of the Sahibzadas was organised by the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies and Virasat Punjab Manch (a platform of various thinkers, scholars, and academicians). The themes of the panel discussion were Sikh history, global Sikh trends, Sikh Shahadat, contemporary social issues, and gender issues.

Chandigarh Language Congress

As a part of the three-day Chandigarh Language Congress hosted by Panjab University, the last day of the session was led by Prof Deepti Gupta and Prof Rajeev Puri, who highlighted their collaboration with RUSA to initiate language research fellowships. They expressed concern over the predominance of science backgrounds among applicants and stressed the need to encourage individuals from arts or language backgrounds.

Harnessing AI tools

The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Panjab University organised a workshop on “Harnessing AI Tools for Skill Enhancement” under the aegis of the Placement Cell, UIPS, specifically tailored for students of BPharm and MPharm. Aimed at equipping pharmacy students with the latest AI tools for their professional growth, the workshop underscored the university’s commitment to advancing technological education and innovation among its students.
