The school marked its Founder’s Day with a celebration, showcasing the talent and spirit of its students, teachers and community. The gala event was a tribute to the school’s founding principles and legacy. The festivities began with a warm welcome speech by Principal George S Shear, who highlighted the school’s achievements and expressed gratitude to the founders. The audience was then treated to a mesmerising array of dance items and performances by the school choir and poem elocution. The tiny-tots of the junior wing stole the show with their adorable performance, leaving the audience in awe of their talent and confidence. The event also featured an address by school chairman I William, who emphasised the importance of education and the role of the school in shaping future leaders.
St Mary’s School, Chandigarh
The school celebrated Mother Mary’s Day with enthusiasm and devotion. A special assembly was held, which began with a floral tribute and candlelight ceremony, where the students and staff offered flowers and lit candles, symbolising the light of love, peace and hope. This was followed by a special prayer service, where the gathering prayed for peace, harmony and blessings. The students presented a soulful song, filling the atmosphere with devotion and piety. A speech was also delivered, highlighting the significance of Mother Mary’s life and teachings and the importance of emulating her virtues in daily life. Principal Martin Das Rao addressed the students, emphasising the need to follow Mother Mary’s example of kindness, humility, and selfless service.

PEC, Chandigarh
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the colege organised a joint workshop on ‘Image Processing for Biomedical Applications (CPWIP-2024)’. This workshop was a collaborative effort between CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh and PEC, Chandigarh. It featured prominent experts, including Prof Dinesh Kumar (RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia), among others. The focus of the workshop was the latest advancements in image processing for biomedical applications, with participation from over 100 attendees across the country, both online and offline.
GGDSD College, Chandigarh
A fire safety awareness programme was organised at the college by Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI), Chandigarh Chapter. Nearly 150 students attended the event. The programme mainly aimed at spreading awareness among students regarding preventive measures and emergency protocols. Jasjeet Suri, former chief engineer (marine) and expert in fire trainings explained to the students and staff members the strategy of FIRE — find, inform, restrict, extinguish.
CGC, Mohali
The college organised an ‘Internal Smart India Hackathon’. The event showcased the exceptional technical skills and innovative spirit of the students. The hackathon was attended by 75 teams, comprising approximately 450 students, who presented a diverse array of innovative ideas. Lovedeep Singh’s team, Divyansh Dhiman’s team and Deepika’s team claimed the top three positions, respectively.
Aryans College, Mohali
The college in association with the AICTE Training And Learning (ATAL) Academy, conducted a one-week faculty development programme on ‘Telemedicine: The Technological Intervention in e-Health’. Dr Anshu Kataria, chairman of the group, said the FDP aimed at equipping the faculty with the knowledge and skills necessary to harness the latest advancements in telemedicine.
