In view of the ongoing cold spell and dense fog, the UT Administration has revised the timings for all government, government-aided and private schools. These changes will be effective from January 13 to 18.

For government and aided schools operating in a single shift, staff will work from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm, while students will attend classes from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Double-shift schools have adjusted their schedules with classes for students in grades 6 and above running from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, and staff reporting during the same hours as single-shift schools. For students of Classes 1 to 5 in double-shift institutions, the timings will be from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, with staff working from 10 am to 4 pm. Pre-primary classes are instructed to operate a three-hour shift starting at 9:30 am. The administration has also directed that once schools revert to normal schedules, teachers must ensure that all pending syllabus and work are adequately covered.

Private schools in Chandigarh have also been directed to adjust their timings during this period. These schools are instructed to open no earlier than 9:30 am and close by 3:30 pm. However, for pre-board classes, schools may start at 9 am, with staff timings regulated accordingly. This revised schedule will be implemented from January 13 or the first day after the winter break, whichever is later.
