Scrap dealer attacked, robbed in Panchkula

Two men were arrested for allegedly thrashing a scrap dealer and forcibly transferring Rs 58,000 from his account through an online payment app.

According to the victim, Wahid, the accused attacked him in Rampurjangi while he was asleep in a tin shed. They snatched his phone, and transferred the money while also stealing Rs 3,000 from his pocket.

Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint at the Pinjore police station. A case under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered and an initiated was launched. Madhawala police post in-charge Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar arrested two suspects in the case. The arrested individuals were presented in court and placed under a one-day police remand. The authorities are working to recover the stolen property and apprehend a third suspect involved in the crime.

The police have also taken immediate action to freeze the victim’s bank account to prevent further unauthorised transactions.
