Mohali, August 20

A meeting of the district-level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deepankar Garg, PCS, SDM, SAS Nagar, today at District Administrative Complex, Mohali.

The meeting was attended by Madhur Bansal, project manager, UIDAI Regional Office, Chandigarh, to review the status of Aadhaar enrolment and further strengthening the ecosystem. The Aadhaar authentication and offline verification, including use of QR code for verification was discussed.

SDM Deepankar Garg instructed the Health Department to organise Aadhaar camps in hospitals and vaccination centres to enrol new-born and children below the age of five. He also instructed officers to inspect Aadhaar enrolment centres regularly to ensure proper functioning. He appealed residents to get mandatory bio-metric updates (MBU) done on attaining the age of five and 15. The facility is free for children of age groups 5-7 and 15-17. He instructed the Education Department to prepare a roster for children in schools for this purpose.

Madhur Bansal appealed to the residents to keep their mobile number and documents updated on their Aadhaar for availing various government facilities seamlessly. He said the facility to update the document is free of cost till September 14.
