The second round of serological survey to determine the extent of spread of coronavirus began in Panchkula today.

Civil Surgeon Jasjeet Kaur said 720 samples would be collected from 16 clusters in three days and the result of the survey would be made public next week.

A serological survey is an antibody test conducted for a sample of the population to assess how many people have been affected by a disease. In an earlier survey conducted nearly two months ago, at least 6.5 per cent people living in Panchkula were estimated to have had contracted Covid and recovered from it. According to the first sero survey, the positivity rate in the rural areas was 8.5 per cent, while it was 3.7 per cent in the urban areas of the district.
