Members of the Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, took part in a cleanliness drive here today.
The drive was organised under the presidentship of Kamaljit Singh Panchhi with the help of sanitation staff of the Municipal Corporation.
Panchhi said: “We took the initiative after Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked us to observe a week-long ‘Uncleanliness, Out from India’ campaign till the Independence Day in commemoration of the attainment of ‘Swaraj’ following the Quit India campaign.”
Panchhi said this gesture of cleanliness was their small contribution towards the campaign and their duty to serve the country by keeping it clean, which would help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Panchhi appealed to all members of the Market Welfare Associations and the Resident Welfare Associations of the city to guide people not to throw any garbage or waste material on roads and streets.
Panchhi thanked all members of the association for their support and participation in this campaign.
