Sector 22 school girls emerge soccer champs
The girls’ U-15 team of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, won the Chandigarh Girls State Football (League) Championship 2024-25 for KB Malik Memorial Trophy at the Sector 46 Sports Complex.
In the final league match, the Sector 22 team recorded a 3-0 win over St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, to top the points table. The sector 22 team also won the U-13 State Football (League) Championship, which concluded at the same venue today.
Kajal opened the team’s account in the 4th minute. Thereafter, the Sector 45 team tried their best to bounce back in the game, but Vanshika netted the second goal to put the Sector 22 outfit in a stronger position. The side entered the lemon break with a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, the Sector 22 strikers continue their attack and finally found the back of the net in the 38th minute, as Kajal posted her second and the team’s third goal. The score line remained unchanged at the final whistle, as the Sector 22 team won the final league match.
Meanwhile, in the second league match, the team of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dhanas, recorded a 2-0 win over Government Model High School (GMHS) RC-1 Dhanas. Neha scored the first goal in the 5th minute, while Rukhsana netted the second in the 11th minute. In the third match, Spell Villa FC defeated Himalayan FC 4-2. Gurleen scored a brace for Spell Villa, while Anpari scored one goal. Himalayan FC defender scored an own goal, completing the four-goal tally for the winning side.
At the U-15 points table, the Sector 22 team claimed the top position with 15 points, while St Stephen’ s girls finished second with 12 points. Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dhanas, finished third with six points. Himalayan Football Club claimed the fourth position with six points, and Spell Villa Football Club finished fifth with six points. The team of Government Model High School (GMHS) RC-1 Dhanas finished at seventh position.
Meanwhile, in the U-13 category, the Sector 22 topped the pool by logging maximum victories. The team of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21, claimed the second position, and St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, claimed the third position.
