Sector 26 club blank Rock Rovers 6-0 at Chandigarh hockey tourney

On the opening day of the Chandigarh State Junior Men and Women Hockey Championships, Rishav scored three goals to help Sri Guru Gobind Singh Hockey Club, Sector 26, log a 6-0 win over Rock Rovers Hockey Club.

Rishav (4th, 30th, 40th) scored three goals, while Mohammed Zaid (33rd, 35th) netted two for the winning side. Sanjay scored the final goal in the 51st minute.

Meanwhile, Manpreet netted a hat-trick to help the girls’ team of Chandigarh Hockey Academy (Blue) defeat Rock Rovers’ Hockey Club 4-2. The club team was ahead in the 8th minute, as Sehajdeep sounded the wooden plank. However, the equaliser came from Sapna in the 24th minute for the academy team. Thereafter, Harsimran once again put the club team ahead 2-1 in the 28th minute. The club team enjoyed this lead for a little while, as Manpreet (35th, 46th, 59th) scored a hat-trick to help the academy team log an easy win over the rivals.

In the second match, Chandigarh Hockey Academy, Sector 42, outplayed Sector 42 Coaching Centre 4-0. Rajveer (2nd, 5th,7th) scored back-to-back goals, while Brahmjot (18th) added the final to the winning tally.

In other matches of the girls category, Chandigarh Hockey Academy (Red) defeated the Blue team 4-0. Husanpreet netted the first goal in the 20th minute, while Tamanna doubled the lead in the 25th minute. Thereafter, Harvinder (36th, 38th) scored two goals to complete the winning tally.

The team of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Hockey Club, Sector 26, logged a 4-0 win over Panjab University Hockey Club. Parneet opened the account for the Sector 26 team in the opening minute, while Preeti pushed the total further in the 3rd minute.

Just two minutes later, Deepika and Gurmail netted one goal each to help the side log an easy win.

In the men category, Chandigarh Hockey Academy defeated Panjab University Club 9-0. Mishab and Pankaj scored two goals each, while Gurjeet, Prabhjot, Bharmjot, Sukhpreet and Prince netted one each.
