Chandigarh, June 18

The SGGS Hockey Club, Sector 26, defeated Wanderers Club 5-1 in the opening match of the Chandigarh State Hockey Championship.

Yograj Singh put the Sector 26 side ahead in the eighth minute. However, Gurpreet levelled the score for Wanderers Club in the 13th minute. Thereafter, Ranjit Singh (17th minute), Mohit (30th minute), Vishaljeet (52nd minute) and Pratham (59th minute) scored for the side.

The 3BRD team logged a 5-2 win over the Chandigarh Hockey Academy, Sector 42. Sukhdev struck thrice for the winning team in 18th, 33rd and 35th minute of the game. For the losing side, Paramvir scored in the seventh and 38th minute.

The CISF won the third match by defeating Rock Rockers Club 5-0. Niraj (14th and 40th), Atif Ateeq (17th), Sushil (36th) and Harpreet (51st) scored goals for the winning side.
