Sector 46 sports complex athletes shine in state championship

Athletes of Sector 46 sports complex bagged a rich haul of medals during the State Athletics Championship, which concluded at the Sector 7 Sports Complex. On the concluding day, the Sector 46 team won the 4x400 boy’s U-18 relay race by clocking 3.40.51s. Manveer Singh Naura, Ashu, Aparv and Danish represented the team. The team of Sarangpur Sports Complex comprising Harsh Malik, Mayank, Ritik Kumar and Sabir claimed the second position with a timing of 3.48.00s.

In the 4x25m relay race of girls’ U-12 category, the Sector 46 team of Yasmin Sharma, Avneet Kaur, Tanmeet Kaur and Sukhleen Kaur bagged the top position in 17.17s. Aardhya Singh, Sikha, Naisha Kaushal and Aardhya Bohra of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, bagged second position in 19.14s.

The team of Raj Rani, Babita, Meenu and Pari from Snehalaya for Girls, Sector 15, clocked 19.15s to claim the third position. Another relay team from the same institute, comprising Radha, Tanvi, Kanchan and Neha, won the gold medal in the 4x100m relay event.

In the boys’ U-8 category, Parth was named best athlete and Ashly Gupta claimed the title in the girls’ event. Nishant (boys) and Alisha Roy (girls) were adjudged best athletes in the U-10 age group. In the U-12 group, Kulnoor Singh (boys) and Yasmin (girls) were the winners, while in the U-14 age group, Abhay Singh (boys) and Mahak (girls) emerged as best athletes.

Riya and Shivam claimed the best athletes’ titles in the U-18 girls’ and boys’ category, respectively, while Rishabh (boys) and Shireen (girls) emerged victorious in U-20 age group. UT Sports Department athletics coach Zulfkar, who is posted at the Sector 46 sports complex, was awarded as the best coach.
