Chandigarh, February 5
The operatives of foreign-based gangster Goldy Brar involved in firing at a businessman’s house in Sector 5 here were planning to escape to Nepal, revealed the interrogation of accused Amritpal Singh, alias Gujjar, who was arrested along with two others from Gorakhpur by a team of the Punjab and Chandigarh police.
The accused, Gujjar (26), Kamalpreet Singh (18) and Prem Singh (25), were nabbed on Sunday.
Gangster to be booked under UAPA

UT SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said Gujjar revealed that he was in constant touch with Goldy Brar who had been assisting them to hoodwink the police and escape to Nepal. The SSP said Gujjar acted at the behest of Goldy Brar. “Goldy helped them hide in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh,” she added.
The police are yet to recover the car, mobile phones and weapons used by the accused. The case was registered on the complaint of Kuldeep Singh, who had reported that on January 19, he heard firing outside his house at 4.14 am. The bullets had hit an SUV parked at his residence.
The complainant had received an extortion call in which Rs 2 crore was demanded from him. The police said two cases, including that of attempt to murder, were earlier registered against Gujjar in Mohali and one against Kamalpreet. Five cases were registered against Prem Singh in the past.
