Candidates selected for the post of post graduate teacher (PGT) for Sanskrit got their heads tonsured in protest for the delay in appointments outside the Shiksha Sadan gate at Sector 5 here today. Today was the sixth day of protesters hunger strike unto death.
Protesters also raised slogans against the BJP-JJP government in the state. Women candidates threatened to get their heads tonsured if the Haryana Government did not fulfil their demands.
Protesters were demanding joining letters for the recruitment of the PGT Sanskrit, advertised in 2015.
Final results for the recruitment were declared on January 1, 2019, by the Haryana Public Service Commission. Since then candidate were waiting for their joining letters, compelling them to protest.
Narendra Kaushik, one of the candidates, said, “On one side the Central Government is taking measures to promote Sanskrit as a language, while on the other the Haryana Government is not issuing appointment letters to candidates selected for the post of PGT Sanskrit.”
As many as 523 candidates were selected for the post of PGT Sanskrit, which include 400 women.
