There is an urgent need to sensitise jail inmates about drugs. The inmates should be kept busy in other things so that they focus on their work and do not fall prey to drugs. Camps should be held to sensitise them about the harmful effects of taking drugs. Top officials should keep a check on the jail inmates to see whether they are consuming drugs or not. They should regularly visit jails to sensitise them about the harmful effects of drugs. The jail inspectors should focus their attention on how drugs are entering inside jail premises and take strict action against those supplying drugs.

MC ignoring main issue

Forget about the MPs and the MLAs even city councillors are not behind in enjoying privileges on taxpayers money. Why Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor should get free cars with drivers and petrol. The MC is giving every councillor full opportunity to loot the public money. Soon, they will be ready to go on leisure trip in the name of study tour and learn nothing. We have never seen any productive work from these tours. City roads are full potholes, garbage can be seen lying here and there, streetlights are in bad condition but the MC don’t have money for public works.

Potholed roads give bumpy ride

The road opposite to Chandigarh City Centre on the VIP Road, Zirakpur, is full of potholes. It not only causes traffic jams but also makes the area highly prone to accidents. These potholes become invisible during rainy season leading accidents and back injuries. Due to large number of commercial and residential complexes, there is always heavy traffic on this road. The authorities concerned at Municipal Corporation, Zirakpur, or City Centre management should carry out the necessary repair work.

Baldev Singh, Zirakpur

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
