This was decided today in a draw of lots conducted at the Mini-Secretariat in Sector 1 here under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja.

Ward number 6 and 16 have been reserved for SC category, only BC candidates can contest election from ward number 15 and 20.

In July this year, the Haryana Cabinet had okayed the bifurcation of the Panchkula MC paving the way for Kalka and Pinjore to have a separate council. However, former councillor Satinder Singh Tony has objected to the government decision, saying it goes against a ‘resolution passed by the then MC House, which decided against the bifurcation’. — TNS
