Sherell, Abhinav win TT titles

Sherell and Abhinav bagged the girls’ and boys’ U-15 titles, respectively, during the 2nd Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at the Sector 50 Sports Complex.

In the girls’ final, Sherell blanked Aanya 11-6 11-3 11-2. Earlier, in semifinals, she had defeated Tisha 11-6 11-2 11-3 while Aanya overpowered Maira 12-10 14-12 11-9. Sherell had defeated Bhumika 11-9 11-7 11-5 in the quarterfinals.

Abhinav won the boys’ U-15 final by defeating Divpratap 11-4 11-5 11-5. In semis, Abhinav defeated Mehtab Dhanoa 11-9 11-4 6-11 9-11 11-4, while Divpratap overpowered Parth Malhotra 11-7 11-9 14-12. In quarterfinals, Abhinav recorded a 5-11 11-9 10-12 11-2 12-10 over Sanchit.

In the girls’ U-13 final, Garvita defeated Bhavisha 8-11 11-6 11-4 11-9. In semis, Bhavisha had recorded a comeback 5-11 11-9 11-5 11-4 win over Trishi, whereas Garvita defeated Mishita Jaryal 11-6 11-8 11-7. In quarterfinals, Garvita had defeated Irene 11-2 11-1 11-2.

Ekampreet won the boys’ U-13 final by defeating Ojas 11-9 8-11 11-7 11-7. Before setting up the title clash, Ekampreet defeated Nandan 11-8 11-9 11-4 and Ojas defeated Akshit 11-7 11-3 11-6. In quarterfinals, Ekampreet moved ahead by defeating Mehul 11-6 11-7 11-9.
