A 55-year-old shopkeeper was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case.
The police had registered a case against the accused under Section 8 of the POCSO Act on June 14 last year following a complaint of the mother of a 13-year-old boy. She had alleged that on April 19 that year, her son had gone to buy a pen from a shop in a village in the UT. The shopkeeper sexually assaulted her son in the shop, she had alleged.
The police presented a challan in the court. Finding prima facie case, charges were framed against the accused to which he pleaded not guilty.
After hearing of the arguments, the Judge, Fast Track Special Court, Rape and POCSO Cases, Chandigarh, held the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.
