Chandigarh administration withdraws restrictive orders; shops to operate as usual

In response to the changing situation after the ceasefire violation in several parts of Punjab, Rajasthan and J&K, the UT Administration has issued a notice stating that everything is completely under control, the public should not panic and ignore rumours but also remain vigilant.

“We are watching the evolving situation closely and precautionary measures, if needed, will be taken accordingly. As of now, no restrictions are in place,” the authorities said.

India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire, ending their four-day-long conflict that had escalated tensions in the region on Saturday.

After the ceasefire was announced, the Chandigarh administration withdrew its restrictive orders.

“In light of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, the earlier request for the voluntary closure of shops and other establishments is hereby withdrawn. All shops and establishments are now permitted to operate as usual,” the order by Chandigarh DC read.

Earlier, as a precautionary measure, the Chandigarh administration had asked all commercial establishments in the city to voluntarily shut down by 9 pm today. Residents were also advised to remain indoors after this time.
