Shops in Chandigarh shut down at 7 pm
Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan and potential security threats, the Chandigarh Administration directed all shops selling non-essential items, such as clothing, eating joints, hotels, restaurants, and malls, to close at 7 pm. Shops selling essential items, including medicines, were exempt from the directive.
According to Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, the order was in effect for Friday only, and shops could resume their usual operations in the morning. Hotels providing boarding and lodging facilities could function as usual but must adhere to blackout guidelines.
