Even as the orange and yellow alerts issued for the past three days had gone wrong, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today re-issued yellow alert for heavy rain coupled with thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana on Thursday.

Following the light rain (1.8mm in Chandigarh, 2mm in Mohali and Panchkula from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm), coupled with overcast sky during the day, tricity residents got some relief from the humid weather conditions but the relative humidity remained 88%. The day and night temperatures in the tricity region also remained almost the same as on Tuesday with a minor dip of 0.8 degree in maximum but 0.5 degree rise in minimum readings during the past 24 hours.

Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 34.3°C and minimum of 27.1°C on Wednesday, which was 0.8 and 0.5 degrees below and above Tuesday’s mercury and below normal by 0.1 and above normal by 0.5 degrees, respectively.
