Shuttlers Ans, Riddhima win U-13 titles

Top seed Ans Kumar Khare, a trainee of the Sector 38 Sports Complex, won the boys’ U-13 title by recording a 21-2 21-15 win over second seed Hiyan Yadav on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Sub-Junior (U-13, U-15 & U-17) State Badminton Championships.

Riddhima won the U-13 final by defeating Sirat Baidwan 21-14 21-18. Kabit Anhad Kaur Dhiraj posted a stunning 21-9 24-22 win over top seed Jaya Verma to win the girls’ U-15 final, and Yug Parmar faced a tough resistance from Aarush Sharma to win the boys’ U-15 final with a 21-15 17-21 21-16 verdict.

In the boys’ U-17 doubles final, Kushagr Bajaj and Nimit Pal defeated Tanul Garg and Tusya Nakra 21-19 21-13, while Ridhima Saini and Vanshika won the girls’ doubles title by defeating Anika Sharma and Kaashvi Sood 21-9 21-7. The team of Jaya Verma and Kabit Anhad Kaur Dhiraj won the girls’ U-15 doubles final by defeating Divnoor Kaur and Hargun Kaur 21-11 21-15 and the team of Aarush Sharma and Aryan Makkar won the boys’ doubles final by recording a 21-19 21-19 win over Agamvir Singh and Yug Parmar.

In the boys’ U-13 doubles final, the pair of Ans and Hiyan Yadav easily defeated Kushal Khokhar and Luvyaan Singh Kakkar 21-11 21-7, while the team of Pawani Verma and Sirat Baidwan defeated Manmeet Kaur and Riddhima 21-12 21-13. Vihaan Kathpalia won the boys’ U-17 singles title by overpowering Kushagr Bajaj 21-18 21-14, and Ridhima Saini won her second title of the evening by defeating Parul Rani 21-13 21-9.

In the mixed doubles U-15 final, the team of Agamvir Singh and Jaya Verma defeated Yug and Kabit 22-20 21-16, while the team of Tusya Nakra and Vanshika won the U-17 title by defeating Aditya Rasali and Pratibha 21-11 21-17.

Sec 38 complex trainees lift overall trophy

Trainees of the Sector 38 Sports Complex claimed 11 out of the total 14 titles up for grabs. Sanjay Tandon, Chairman (Sports), Administrator’s Advisory Council, awarded the winners. Ans, Hiyan, Kabit, Jaya, Yug, Ridhima, Kushagr and Nimit brought laurels by clinching top positions. Nearly 300 shuttlers participated in the meet.
