Mohali, March 2
Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today laid a foundation stone of Rs 22 crore sewerage project crore to mitigate problems of residents of Phase 1 to 11 (9.9-km long), Mohali.
Sidhu initiated the project in Phase 10 to change the main sewerage pipeline of the city under the AMRUT Scheme.
Sidhu said modern sewerage pipelines would be laid from Phase 1 to 11 as 40-year-old pipeline was based on the brick dart system.
He said there would be no need to enter the pipelines as cleaning could be done with the aid of hi-tech machines.
The project would also see a new sewer being laid from Baba Banda Singh Bahadur terminal to Sectors 64, 65, 66 and 67.
Sidhu said Mohali would be made a model city.
Reiterating his commitment that funds would not be a problem as long as development works are concerned, he said Mohali has earned a tag of being a major IT hub.
