Sippy murder case: CBI gives Kalyani Singh videography of crime scene

In compliance of the directions of the order passed by the Supreme Court in Special Leave to Appeal on February 26 this year, the CBI has provided more documents to Kalyani Singh, the accused in the murder case of Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, aka Sippy Sidhu.

The documents, along with pen drive containing a copy of videography of the crime scene, photographs of birthday party and video of Zen car at the crime scene, along with a list of the documents and articles, have been supplied to her.

Kalyani, in the her application filed under Section 207 of the CrPC, had asked the court to issue directions to the CBI to provide all documents whether relied upon or not by the CBI in the report filed under Section 173(8) of the CrPC. She said copies of these documents had not been supplied to her.

The documents she demanded include legible copies of photographs of Zen car captured in CCTV camera installed at the residence of the deceased, legible copies of photographs of CCTV footage of Sector 19 procured from a shop, Thapar Shoes, along with CD of the complete CCTV footage of Thapar Shoes, legible copies of photographs of the crime spot at Green Park, including the parking area of Sector 27, Chandigarh. She also demanded a complete copy of soft data retrieved from mobiles, laptop and external drive of the deceased along with observation memo dated April 22, 2016.

The counsel for the accused said it was mandatory for the CBI to provide all documents procured during the investigation to the accused.

Sippy Sidhu, an advocate, was shot dead in a Sector 27 park on the night of September 20, 2015. The police had registered a case against unidentified persons, but could not solve it. In 2016, the case was transferred to the CBI. After six years of investigation, the CBI too failed to identify the culprits in the case and filed an untrace report in December 2020.
