The prosecution has examined Khem Pal, resident of Himachal Pradesh who had purchased the car registered in the name of father of Kalyani Singh, accused in the murder case of advocate Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu.
The witness reiterated the statement given to the CBI under Section 161 of the CrPC.
As per the chargesheet, Khem Pal said in December 2019, he had gone to Sector 7, Madhya Marg, for buying a second-hand vehicle from a car bazar. There he shortlisted an Alto K-10 registered in the name of Parminder Singh, a resident of Sector 11, Chandigarh. After selecting the car, he paid Rs 2.35 lakh and took the delivery of the car. After receiving the NOC, he got the vehicle registered in his name at Ghumarwin, Himachal Pradesh.
Later, the car was seized during the investigation by the CBI from Khem Pal and was handed over to him on ‘superdnama’ with the direction to produce the same as and when required. The witness also placed all documents related with the car on record.
The CBI had claimed in the chargesheet that accused Kalyani Singh contacted Sippy on September 18, 2015, by using mobile phones of two persons and compelled him to meet her in a park in Sector 27. It further said there were evidences regarding her conversation with the deceased and thereafter killing him.
The CBI claimed in the chargesheet that the accused was also seen running from the spot in a white Alto car that was owned by her father.
