Sartej Singh Narula, advocate of Kalyani Singh, the accused in the murder case of advocate Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, aka Sippy Sidhu, claimed that the woman witness failed to describe specific features of the girl allegedly seen by her near the crime scene.
While talking to mediapersons today, Narula claimed that “In her cross-examination before the court, the witness acknowledged that she could not provide specific details about the girl she claimed to have seen, noting that she had only observed the jawline, complexion and height of the girl entering a vehicle.”
He claimed that there were multiple gaps in her claims. Narula said the witness said sketch artist had based the drawing on her instructions, describing the features as ‘normal Indian features, without having given any further details about the nose, eyes, cheeks, face cut, forehead, eyebrows, etc.
Narula claimed that that in her testimony in the court, the witness had acknowledged her presence in photographs and public demonstrations and candlelight vigils seeking justice, prior to her becoming a witness with the CBI.
However, the woman witness claimed during the cross-examination that she had participated in the candlelight march, but had gone there to pick her daughter. She said she remained there for about 5 to 10 minutes and then picked her daughter. She said she was not leading the march. May be when she had gone to pick her daughter, her photographs were clicked.
Sippy Sidhu was found shot in a park in Sector 27-B, Chandigarh, on September 20, 2015.
