Six employees found absent at RTA office during raid

Sleuths of the CID team here today raided the office of the Regional Transport Department (RTA) in Panchkula and found three employees missing from duty without information.

Under the supervision of the ADGP (CID), Anil Rao, a flying squad team led by DSP Purnima Singh raided the RTA office in Sector 5 bus terminal at about 9 am. The team took the attendance register in its custody.

Three senior transport inspectors along with three transport sub-inspectors were found absent from duty while some officials arrived late at the office.

According to information registration of commercial vehicle, licence and other work was done at the RTA office. The office has a staff of 13 employees. People started arriving at the RTA office at 8.30 am to get their commercial vehicles registered, but the staff did not arrive till then.

A senior transport inspector Ajay Saini reached office at 10.30 am. When questioned by the team about delay in reaching office the inspector said he was on duty at a barrier. Two inspectors Mukesh Kumar and Praveen Sharma also arrived with him.

Three transport sub-inspectors Ram Kumar, Ravinder and Shilaga were found absent from duty.

Sources said the CM office had received a complaint that the RTA staff was not reaching office on time. Acting on complaint, a CID team raided the RTO office and checked attendance of employees. Additional Deputy Commissioner Manita Malik presently holds the charge of Secretary, Transport Department.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Purnima Singh said departmental action could be taken against absentee employees. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anil Rao would submit a report to the Chief Minister, she added.
