Six jhuggis gutted at Saketri village

At least six jhuggis at Saketri village were reduced to ashes after a fire broke out this afternoon. However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.

Cylinder explosion?

A few men at the spot said a mini-LPG cylinder explosion triggered the fire, but we found no evidence to corroborate the claim. — Narender, Fireman

According to fire officials, they received information about the incident at 2.55 pm following which they rushed four fire engines to the spot. Three firefighting vehicles were sent from Sector 5 and one from Sector 20. It took them around an hour and a half to control the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The affected shanty dwellers lost mainly food items and clothes in the fire incident, he added.
