Chandigarh Congress president Pardeep Chhabra and senior leaders of the party condemned the BJP-led Central Government for “snatching farmers’ right by passing the anti-farmer Bills”.

Chhabra said if the Bills were actually in favour of the farmers, why a ballot vote was not allowed in the Parliament.

“The BJP knows that the three Bills are against the interests of the farmers and put the small and medium farmers at the risk of being exploited by the big corporate,” said Chhabra.

He added: “Farmers are up in arms against the government. The Congress will always stand by them and make their voice heard in the Parliament and on streets. We will keep pressing for equal opportunity, better prices and fight for provision of redressal measures to the farmers.”
