Chandigarh Smart City Limited has tied up with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to analyse the data of all UT wings and suggest interventions. The move is aimed at helping various departments in decision-making,
In what will work as an analytical tool, various departments will provide data to the NIC, which will analyse it. The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) will assist and make suggestions to the departments concerned.
The key objective of this project is to establish a collaborative framework where inputs from functional departments of the Municipal Corporation and other stakeholders such as transport, water, fire, police, etc, will be assimilated and analysed on a single platform. It will result in aggregated city-level information. Further, this aggregated information will be converted to actionable intelligence, which would be shared with relevant stakeholders.
“For example, a traffic analysis was done and its report sent to the engineering wings of the UT and the MC. It was suggested the dimensions (sphericity) of all roundabouts should not be increased. It helped in curbing accidents and ensured a smooth flow of traffic,” shared an official.
“Similarly, by analysing the data related to cholera, we could suggest points where water got contaminated. An analysis of the city’s sewerage was done and it could be suggested where the sewerage needed replacements. Also, by going through this process, we could identify special persons, who were eligible for disability pension, but were not getting it,” added the official.
In all these cases, Smart City Limited procured the data from the departments concerned.
Speaking to Chandigarh Tribune, the CEO of Smart City Limited said, “We yesterday tied up with the NIC. We earlier used to get excel data from departments. Now, the data will directly be collected and studied by the NIC. They will then provide us data in the required form. These suggestions will help departments in decision-making.”
