Chandigarh: A 20-year-old youth has been arrested by the local police for allegedly snatching a mobile phone in Sector 42. The police said the complainant, Sobat Singh Rawat, a resident of Sector 15, was standing near Surya Hotel, Sector 42, when the suspect snatched his mobile phone on February 12. The police were informed, who visited the spot. A case was registered at the Sector 36 police station. The police said during investigation, the suspect, Jitender Kumar, alias Munia (20), a resident of Attawa village, Sector 42, was arrested. The police recovered the snatched mobile phone from him. During interrogation, he disclosed that he had also stolen an Activa from Sector 36, which has been recovered by the police. TNS
Valuables stolen from Zirakpur flat
Zirakpur: Thieves struck at a locked flat in Zirakpur and decamped with jewellery items and other valuables worth several lakhs of rupees. According to sources, the flat owner was away when the miscreants targeted the house. The incident came to light when the family members, who had gone out of station, returned and found the locks broken. They immediately informed the police, who procured the CCTV footage of the area. Fresh production warrant issued
Chandigarh: The CBI court has issued a fresh production warrant against Ajay Chandra, Director, M/s Unitech Ltd, after he failed to appear before the court to record his statement. The director also failed to appear during the last hearing in the case on February 5. The court earlier rejected the third closer report in the theme park case submitted by the CBI and summoned three former IAS officers. The other accused appeared before the court, but the director of the firm is yet to appear before it. TNS

Panchkula: A two-day Ambala Division job fest, START-2020, concluded at Government PG College, Sector 1, here. As many as 365 students got themselves registered for job interviews. Students from government colleges of Ambala, Chhachhrauli, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts attended the fair. More than 50 companies working in hospitality, IT, banking, insurance, tourism and pharma participated in the fair. TNS
