“Efforts towards promotion of personal hygiene in adolescent girls is an appreciable gesture, the district administration welcomes all efforts afoot towards empowerment and confidence-building initiatives directed towards the girls of the district,” said Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan during an interaction with the representatives of the Anti-Corruption Crime Prevention Community Oriented Policing Society.
The office-bearers of the society met the Deputy Commissioner and donated five incinerators and five sanitary napkin vending machines for three schools of Derabassi and two schools of Kharar.
The society has worked for uplift of jail inmates with the help of the Punjab Police by providing free medicines, healthcare, counselling and facilitating sanitation requirements of woman inmates so that optimum health is maintained on the jail premises.
It also organised seminars at various colleges to educate students regarding crime prevention and drug abuse.
