Sonu Shah’s murder: Charges framed against 7 in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, April 19

Additional Sessions Judge Jaibir Singh has framed charges against Abhishek, alias Banty; Raju Basodi, Lawrance Bishnoi, Rajan, alias Jaat, Dharminder Singh, Manjit and Shubham Prajaptai in a three-year-old alleged murder of a property dealer, Sonu Shah, in Burail, Chandigarh.

The charges have been framed under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, and Section 25 of the Arms Act against the accused to which they pleaded not guilty. “After going through the report under Section 173 CrPC and its accompanied documents, a prima facie case is made out against the accused persons,” says the court in the order.

According to the charge sheet, Sonu Shah, a property dealer, was allegedly shot dead by the four assailants inside his office at Burail village, Sector 45, on September 28, 2019. During the firing, two of his colleagues, Joginder Phelwan and Rommy, were injured.

The case was registered on a complaint of Parveen Kumar, a brother of Sonu Shah.
