Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh today met with engineering team and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Sector 7 Police Station to assess the building’s infrastructure and outline steps for immediate improvement.

Despite a packed official schedule, the state police chief spent time examining the station’s condition before approving a series of low-cost interventions to enhance functionality and comfort.

Following the review, the DGP directed the engineering staff to address key maintenance and usability concerns through five practical measures. These include plugging leakage and seepage to prevent water damage, reducing noise from

the CCTV server room through soundproofing or equipment relocation and installing energy-efficient LED lighting to improve visibility and security.

Additional recommendations involve putting up clear signage to assist visitors and staff, and furnishing a modest waiting and interaction room for the public. The focus, officials said, was on cost-effective improvements that could immediately enhance both working conditions for personnel and the experience of visitors at the station.

“These small but meaningful upgrades can have a substantial impact on police station efficiency and public perception without requiring heavy expenditure,” a senior officer said.

The DGP informed the SHO that he would revisit the Sector 7 Police Station within a fortnight to assess progress on the interventions. The initiative, being treated as a pilot project, may later be replicated across other police stations in Haryana as part of a broader push to modernise police infrastructure through sustainable and affordable means.

Officials from the engineering wing have already begun outlining timelines and cost estimates to ensure the upgrades are completed promptly.
