Chandigarh, December 3

A woman, who had returned from South Africa on December 1, has been booked by the Chandigarh Police for violating the Covid home quarantine protocol.

A case has been registered against the woman, a resident of Sector 48, on a complaint of UT Health Secretary Yashpal Garg under Section 269 of the IPC and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, at the Sector 49 police station.

As per the complaint, the woman was home-quarantined at Universal Enclave, Sector 48. However, she broke the quarantine protocol and checked into Hotel Hyatt Regency at 4.52 pm on December 2. Thereafter, she again left the hotel and returned late at night.

“Her RT-PCR report on December 1 was negative and repeat sampling is due on December 8. Further, special care is required till the repeat testing and availability of the report,” reads the complaint.

Hotel staff to be tested

The Health Secretary has directed the Director, Health Services, to arrange an RT-PCR test of all staff members of Hyatt.
