Special camps for mutations organised in Mohali district

Special camps were organised to address the pendency of mutations in the district today.

Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa visited the special camp organised at the District Administrative Complex, Mohali. He said as many as 31,500 mutations were done in the state a single day during the last camp, which was organised on January 6. He appreciated the move of district administration to process the cases of family divisions of land along with mutations. Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh said about 150 pending mutations were registered at Mohali in the camp on January 6.

Meanwhile, around 20 residents of Bariali village near Chappar Chiri complained that it had been more than six years that they got land from the government but the mutation was not being processed on one pretext or the other. “We got the land from the government to make houses as we had very small land holdings. If the land is not in our name, how can we construct houses,” the villagers lamented.

The minister said it would be ensured that the mutation was entered in the revenue records within the stipulated period of 45 days.

Dy mayor flags stamp paper shortage

Mohali: Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi complained that stamp papers were not available for marriage registration in the district. A Rs 1,500 stamp paper is required for marriage registration. When people go to the tehsil office for registration, they were told that stamp papers were not available, he added. “Stamp paper vendors in Mohali say the problem is persisting for the past four months. People have to go to Fatehgarh Sahib or Ropar to get stamp papers,” he said. Bedi demanded that stamp papers should be provided immediately in Mohali district so that people do not face any problem.
