The incident took place on the dividing road of Sector 20/21 where Sub-Inspector Didar Singh (In-charge, Police Post Sector 21), ASI Sandeep, and SPOs Vinod and Surjit Singh were present. The police had received prior information that a white car, after colliding with another vehicle, was approaching the area at high speed. The checkpoint was immediately reinforced.

Soon, the car was spotted with two occupants inside. Despite repeated signals from the police to stop, the driver accelerated towards the barricades, while the passenger signalled him to flee. The vehicle rammed directly into the barricade, putting the lives of the on-duty officers at risk. However, the police managed to stop the vehicle.

Upon stopping the car, the driver began arguing with the police. The driver was evidently drunk and the front windshield of the vehicle was broken. During questioning, the driver identified himself as Pravesh, a resident of Peer Muchalla; while the co-passenger identified himself as Manjeet from Karmgarh village, Jind.

An FIR has been registered against them at Sector 5 police station, Panchkula, under Sections 281, 125, 54, 132, and 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Both were produced in court today and remanded to judicial custody.
